NZPA-ReuterGuyaquil. Ecu- ■ ador The New Zealand water polo team took the last place in a field of 16 at the world swimming championships yesterday. The Soviet Union.won the water polo gold medal by a whisker after a hotly
disputed contest in which it drew. 7-7, with. Hungary, the silver medallists. The Soviet Union needed only a draw for first place. An" annulled . Hungary goal left it in second place and West Germany won the bronze after earlier beating the Netherlands, 5-3.
