Protester’s appeal lost
PA. Wellington An appeal against sentence by Marx Jones, aged 33, of Auckland, the pilot of a light plane which buzzed Eden park dropping flour bombs during the third Springbok rugby test last year, was dismissed by the Court of Appeal yesterday: Jones was sentenced on May 4 to eight months jail on
a charge of operating a Cessna 172 aircraft in such a manner as to cause unnecessary danger to people or property, and four months on each of eight charges of assault, the terms to be served concurrently. Jones, of Herne Bay, was also disqualified from holding a pilot's licence for three years. He had been on bail pending his appeal.
