Methven ‘not getting message through’
Parliamentary reporter The accommodation business in Methven did not "get its act together" during the recent Australian Federation of Travel Agents convention in Christchurch, the Minister of Tourism (Mr Talbot) said yesterday. "But the message in many cases is still not getting through." Mr Talbot said. During the convention, about 700 overseas delegates visited the Methven - Mount Hutt region to look at farms, ski. take scenic flights, and take part in a series of outdoor activities.
"The disappointing part was that' only about three of the 15 commercial accommodation businesses in Methven took part in the day’s promotional activities." he said.
