Young Nationals ‘register disgust’

PA Auckland Resolutions passed last evening by the Young Nationals in Auckland asked the former Minister of Works. Mr Derek Quigley, to remain a member of Parliament. The Auckland division meeting was attended by the 14' branch chairmen of the division and six branch officers. ■They resolved to “register their disgust" at the actions of; the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) and to call for the intmediate reinstatement of

Mr Quigley as a member of the Cabined. Another resolution called for a public explanation by Mr Muldoon of why he asked for the' resignation of Mr Quigley “when in our view the previous transgressions of other Cabinet Ministers have been far more serious." The first motion accepted from the floor, calling for the resignation of the Prime Minister, was lost, seven votes to 10. with three abstentions. In Christchurch last evening. the Canterbury-Westland

branch of the Young Nationals sent a telegram to the National Party’s president. Sir George "Chapman, offering $2OO towards the cost of a Dominion executive meeting. As Sir George had raised financial cost as a reason for not holding a meeting. Young Nationals hoped that other party members would also contribute to allow the meeting to take place, said the chairman, Mr Donald Suttie. It was vital that the meeting be held, he said.
