Chess competition
Twenty-four teams, five fewer than the record number last year, have so far entered “The Press" schools’ ■chess competition, which will be held during the second term.
The tournament, now in its twelfth year, has three grades and is sponsored by
the "The Press" for $250. Riccarton, Hornby, and St Bede’s are three schools to have entered teams after some years absense and Four Avenues is a newcomer to the tournament. Entries, which should be addressed to "The Press."- P. O. Box 1005. close on June 8.
