Snow at Mount Hutt
The Mount Hutt ski-field had a snow fall of more than 20cm yesterday, but any decision to open was delayed until this morning. Mr Peter Yeoman, the chairman of the Mount Hutt Ski Company, said that about 20cm to 22cm had fallen by 4 p.m. yesterday when it was still snowing lightly. Snow groomers were used all vesterdav to hold the
snow, but the opening of the season would depend on the overnight weather. "It’s a shallow base and at most the lower slopes will be operating if we open on Sunday and Monday," Mr Yeoman said. A spokesman for the Snow Centre. Mr Lynn Crawford, said no reports had been received from any of the other commercial ski fields.
