Helmets to be studied

Part of a $45,000 grant from the Accident Compensation Corporation .tb the Standards Association of New Zealand ( will fund a study into the need for cyclists to wear protective helmets. Other projects approved for the 1982-83 period include research into industrial protective gloves and safety requirements for electric blankets. Grants totalling $120,000 have been made by the A.C.C. to the Standards Association during the last five, years. The money has been spent on establishing safety standards for products ranging from safety belts for window cleaners to crane signals and lasers.
