Full-time council secretary

The Canterbury Trades Council has decided to appoint a full-time administrative secretary. The present secretary, Mr L. G. Morel, is an elected honorary officer. He is also the secretary of the Canterbury Rubber Workers’ Union. The work load had become too great to be handled except by a full-time officer, he said yesterday. Much of the work involves the handling of correspondence from the parent body, the Federation of Labour. Its conference, in May, recommended that full-time officers be . appointed by trades councils.
