The Japanese women’s marathon champion, Nanae Sasaki, accepts flowers and her race number for the Nike international marathon, from the race director, Mr Rod Rutherford, on her arrival at Christchurch Airport yesterday. Miss Sasaki, who is accompanied by her coach, Mr Kiyoshi Nakumura, is favoured to win the women’s section of the Nike marathon which will be held on Sunday, over the 1974 Commonwealth Games course.
