Penalty race
PA Ashburton The Mid-Canterbury Owners and Breeders' Association will stage a penalty bearing maiden race atits meeting on the Ashburton all-weather track today. The winner will receive a stake of $lOOO, plus a $l5O trophy donated by Steve and Kathleen Edge, while the second and third horses will receive $lOO and $5O respectively. The field in order of the barrier draw is: Jefferson Starship, Tufan, Monkani Chief, Brets Messenger, Georginas Joy, Lord Tundare, Prime Advice, Continuous, Heres to Chance, Captain Phillips, Gavotte, Golden Romeo, Joma Hall, Timely Dryden, Quebra Scot, Trumpet Call, Accupulco, Red Deal, Reverie Lass, Hanover Lord, Never Ending, Canny Kiwi. Emergencies: Georginas Joy, Quebra Scot, Golden Romeo, Red Deal. Captain Hanover Lord.
