Pateman suspended

The Washdyke jockey, Harold Pateman had mixed fortunes at the Amberley Racing Club’s meeting on Saturday. After he rode Red Rebel to the easiest win of the day in the highweight he was suspended until after Wednesday. The club’s judicial committee upheld a charge against Pateman of careless riding in allowing His Honour to shift ground in wards when not sufficiently clear of others soon after the start. Final Surge lost ground in the incident. The committee, in determining the term of suspension stated that it took into account Pateman’s good record.
