New award to Chch man
Mr John Follet, . of Christchurchm, has become one of the first two persons to be awarded the New Zealand Diploma of Science, a new award from the Authority for Advanced Vocational Awards. The new diploma requires students already holding the New Zealand Certificate in Science (N.Z.C.S.) to initiate and carry through a scientific project under the general supervision of a tutor, and to present the results in an extensive scientific report. Mr Follet’s chosen subject

Mr Follet, who is . em- C ployed at the Tussock Grassland and Mountain Lands Institute at Lincoln College, >. completed his N.Z.C.S. in bio- £ logy at the institute, and his ? project has been carried out $ under the supervision of the institute’s science depart- J ment. *■ He received his diploma at * the institute’s graduation * ceremony, held in the . Civic > Hall at Upper Hutt, at which 7 287 students graduated.
