Nuclear weapons
Sir,—No-one should doubt the sincerity of the reported remarks by the United States Vice-President, Mr George Bush, (May 5). “He had wanted to emphasise American policy of seeking a reduction of armaments, not just limitation,” Of course the United States wants arms reduction—by the Soviet Union. This is the purport of President Reagan’s insolent “zero option,” unilateral disarmament by the Soviet Union, in return for the United States’ non-deployment of the cruise and Pershing missiles in Western Europe.-Yours, etc., M. CREEL. May 6, 1982.
