Bastion land unsold
PA Auckland No satisfactory tender had been received for the land at Bastion Point, said the Minister of Housing (Mr Quigley) yesterday. However, the Minister said that the Housing Corporation was continuing negotiations with “some interested parties” on a possible development of the site. A spokesman for the Joint Working Group on Bastion Point, Father Terence Dibble. said the protest group was pleased that the sale had not gone ahead. However, the Minister’s Statement that negotiations were going on “with interested parties” was still threatening. “We are not going to re : lent until we come to some arrangement with the Government whereby the NgatiWhatua people can have some say over that land,” he said.
