Even scoring
The scoring was very even in "The Press" Centennial Cup competition, for conduct and approach, in Saturday's round of senior rugby. Although no team gained the maximum of 20 points, all but one were grouped on 16 or 17. Hornby was the odd side out. a modest behaviour mark of eight cutting its total to 14. Two teams. Lincoln College and Shirley, received the perfect score of 12 for behaviour. Points on Saturday were — Bumside (11 out’ of 12 for behaviour six out of eight for approach), total 17; University A (11, 6) 17: New Brigton (10. 7) 17: High School Old Boys (10. 7) 17; Lincoln College (12. 5) 17; Belfast (11. 6) 17: Linwood (11. 6) 17: Albion (11. 6) 17; Christchurch (10, 7) 17; Marist (10, 7) 17; Sydenham (10. 6) 16; Suburbs (10, 6) 16: University B (10. 6) 16; Shirley (12. 4) 16; Merivale-Papa-nui (I'l. 5) 16: Hornby (8. 6) 14. Totals., after two rounds, are:— Lincoln College and Marist 35. University A and Sydenham 34. Belfast and Linwood 33. New Brighton. Hornby. High School Old Boys. Shirley and Christchurch 32. Suburbs and Menvaie-Papanui 31. Albion 30. Burnside 20. University B 28.
