A former beauty queen from Radford, England, Pru Poretta, who will head the June carnival procession in Coventry in the guise of the city’s legendary Lady Godiva, the Countess of Mercia (1040-1080A.D.). According to tradition, Lady Godiva gained concessions for Coventrians from her husband, the Earl Leofric, by riding naked through the streets on a white horse. Pru, on her white horse, will wear a see-through body stocking and a long wig.
