Obituary Mr Reginald Barker
PA Auckland Two brothers who influenced retail trade in New Zealand have died within a week of each other. Mr Reginald Barker, an important leader in retail associations, died on Tues-
day. aged 74. a week after his elder brother. Mr Philip Barker, aged 75, an executive of Foodstuffs. Ltd. Mr Reginald Barker was secretary of the National Association of Retail Grocers for 40 years until he resigned in 1975 .and was secretarymanager of the Auckland provincial Retailers’ Association for 36 years until 1976. He regarded as one of his main achievements the introduction of the five-day trading week for retailers after World War II when Satur-day-morning shopping ended.
