Fire at Anzac base
PA Wellington New Zealand’s' Sinai peace-keeping contingent lost its aircraft technical manuals as a fierce fire raged through a store-tent at Anzac’s desert base last weekend. The blaze also destroyed valuable aircraft parts belonging to the Australians. A Ministry' of Defence spokesman, Squadron Leader Chris Cole, said in Wellington yesterday that the manuals were the" only things lost by the New Zealanders and they would be replaced as soon as possible. .An Australian defence spokesman in Canberra. Lieutenant Colonel Murray Taylor, has said the fire was not expected to affect the short term work of the contingent. He said there was no suspicion of sabotage.
