Pleasing semi-final trial by Prince Simbir

Special correspondent Hastings Prince Simbir showed he is right on target for next Saturday’s $25,000 Hawke’s Bay Cup with another firstclass workout at the Hastings track yesterday morning. Fast track was carried out on the course proper No. 1 grass and plough. All tracks were soft on top. Prince Simbir was ridden by his regular rider, Rodney Lowry, and worked on his own over 1200 m on the course proper in Imin 16.35. He ran the first 600 m in 38.4 s and the final 600 m in 37.95. It was a good solid workout by the English-bred entire and he pulled up extremely well after it. Others who hit out well in training yesterday morning' included Double Header, Stylish, Nioami and Nyhavn. Double Header was travel-

ling easily and just ahead of Tosto at the end of 800 m on the course proper in- 50.45, the last 600 m in 38.95. Double Header is a promising galloper by Double Nearco. He has shown good form in trials and is set to make a big debut at Saturday’s Hawke’s Bay meeting. . Stablemates Nioami and Nyhavn ripped into their work when they left the 1000 m peg on the course proper. They clocked Imin 1.45, the last 600 m in 38.85. They only had light weights up but the time was still a good one. Battlecraze and Diploma worked together over 1000 m on the course proper in Imin 2.15, the last 600 m in 395. Kurdistan Agent, having his first serious gallop for some time, sprinted 1000 m in Imin 2.55, the last 600 in 39.35. Vordeville and Cocheta

were not pushed when running 1200 m in Imin 18.75, the last 800 m in 52.85, and the final 600 m in 40.55. They both appeared right at home in the soft conditions. Silk Degrees ran a solo 800 m in 52.15, the last 600 m in 38.15. He is another which appreciates the softer track conditions.
