July hearing for Samoan case

PA Wellington A date has been set by the Privy Council to determine the argument of Mr George Rosenberg, a Wellington lawyer, that Samoans are New Zealand citizens. Mr Rosenberg, with senior counsel, Dr G. P. Barton, will argue the question of Samoan citizenship in New Zealand in the Privy Council

on July 19. Mr Rosenberg said yesterday that he thought that the case would last only one day. He said that an unspecified number of Samoan citizens would be affected by the decision. There were about 150,000 Samoans in the world and there were 130 cases pending on the overstayers issues in Wellington alone.
