Standard for ladders

Wellington reporter An omission in the New Zealand standard for ladders is being rectified as quickly as possible by the Standards Association. It has been found that the pass-fail criteria for the deflection of extension ladders is incomplete. The 1981 standard permits extension ladders up to 13.5 metres, but the relevant permitted deflection table gives readings for ladders only up to nine metres. An amendment is being drafted giving coverage up to 13.5 metres.
