Indoor mile mark
NZPA-Reuter Cosford, England American Frank Assumma ran the first sub-four minute indoor mile in Britain on Saturday when he clocked three minutes 59.56 seconds in an athletics international between the United States and Britain at Cosford, England. Assumma's effort helped
the United States take the match 78Pz to 49 L i in front of a near-capacity crowd of 3000. The Americans set two other United Kingdom allcomer’s records as Larry Myricks cleared 7.29 metres in the long jump and the 4 x 400 metres relay team clocked three minutes 10.74 seconds.
