Mrs Sparrow continues golf comeback

Mary' Sparrow continued her strong comeback in Canterbury women’s golf with two wins in the silver division (0-9) matchplay competition held by the Canterbury District Ladies' Golf Association at Kaiapoi recently. Mrs Sparrow beat a Russell Grace representative. Adrienne Bond. 2 up. in the morning round and accounted for Jackie Benschop. 2 and 1. in the afternoon. The silver competition provided a useful lead to the selection of the Russell Grace competition in May. It involves match-play over five rounds. Diane Ritchie played the perfect shot on the short fifth hole at Kaiapoi. She used a 2-iron. Results of the third and fourth rounds were:— Third round.— Mrs J. Ross beat Mrs N. Mann, 3 and 2: Miss D.
