Waugh top swimmer
Bruce Waugh, in the boys 15 years section, was the best performed Canterbury swimmer at the’'New Zealand junior agegroup championships in Blenheim last-week-end. Waugh won three gold medals and a silver at the championships. In total Canterbury competitors returned with 10 gold, 10 silver and six bronze medals. Waugh's gold medals were in the 100 m butterfly, the 200 m medley and 400 m freestyle. His second was in the 100 m freestyle. Two other Canterbury swimmers each won two gold medals. Sally Pemberton won the girls 14 years 200 m medlev and 100 m butterfly, and Tony Mason, the boys 12 years 100 m and 200 m breaststroke. Other medal winners were: BOYS Nicolas Elsmore. 13 years.
