Beaufort Lass wins

PA New Plymouth The leading two-year-old filly, Beaufort Lass, gained her sixth win from seven starts when she won the La Mer Stakes at the Taranaki Jockey Club’s meeting yesterday. A short-priced favourite, Beaufort . Lass was three wide for most of the 1200 m journey, but travelling well all the way. Once into full stride in the straight she made light of her 57kg and kicked too well for the others. She beat Cariere by three-quarters of a length. The fast-finishing Romantic Bay was third, a nose back. Beaufort Lass, a $20,000 purchase at the Trentham sales, has now earned about $25,000 in stakes. A decision on that will be made this week about whether to race her next in Australia.
