Special correspondent Hastings Brilliant 800 m workouts from Prince Simbir, Jester Purpose and Dollar Vision highlighted yesterday morning’s Hastings track session. Horses were preparing for the second day of the Napier Park meeting tomorrow. Fast work was done on the plough, which provided fast footing. Z Prince Simbir sprinted 800 m on httpwn and was timed over tile last 600 m in an exceptionally fast 35.85. The big chestnut was hitting out well but his trainer, Marlene Todd, says he is a day-by-day proposition. “One day he is sore in one leg and the next day he is sore in another,” she said. Prince Simbir has not > raced since finishing eighth ! in the Marton Cup (2200 m at Awapuni in January. He looks well and is entered for the open sprint at Hastings tomorrow. ' The stablemates, Jester < Purpose and Dollar Vision, were paired up over 800 m ; and recorded a fast 48.25, the last 600 in 365. Jester Purpose is another ready to resume racing in the open sprint tomorrow. He would prefer rain to ease the track though. Dollar Vision is not entered on Wednesday but should be one to watch’ when - next produced. Giovanni, the Rogerson entry for the open sprint tomorrow, galloped 600 m in 37.25. He has a good record at Hastings but has a wide draw to overcome. Acraman, preparing foi the Napier Park Handicap ran two 600 m sprints, the first in a fast 36.85. He should be prominent providing the track remains fast. We’re ‘N’ Business rounded off his preparation for the Napier Park Handicap with a solid 1000 m. He went witt a stablemate, Moonlight, but was always well clear of hirr. and recorded 49.8 s for 800 m, " the last 600 m in 36.35. Moonlight will run at the Wellington meeting tomorrow.
