Woolston ahead in senior play
With one round to be played in the senior-A Suburban cricket competition. Woolston Working Men’s Club holds a seven-point lead over its nearest rival, Sumner, which it-will meet in the final round. Two interesting matches were played in the grade at the' weekend, with teams gaining firstinnings leads but losing outright. Upper Riccarton declared its first innings closed five runs ahead of Sumner to take firstinnings points with Alan • Kerr being 85 not out. Sumner then declared its second innings closed at 54 for nine leaving Upper Riccarton 150 runs to win in 122 minutes. Good bowling by the Sumner team had Upper Riccarton all out for only 89 runs. ’ Harewood declared 24 runs behind. and then dismissed Christchurch Working Men’s Club for 125. leaving itself 150 to make, which it did for the loss of seven wickets.
