Tie officials

As was the case for the Davis Cup tie between Britain and New Zealand last winter, the neutral officials for this week-end’s big tennis fixture will all be from Australia. Mr Bill Gilmour, a Grand Prix supervisor from Sydney, will again be the referee. The umpires will be Messrs Bob Suey, also of Sydney, and lan Hasey of Adelaide.

Mr Suey is a . tennis teacher who has been umpiring for 22 years. He has officiated at Wimbledon, and, as well as umpiring in the Davis Cup final between Australia and Italy in Sydney, he has had the nerve-tingling experience of controlling the final of the Australian indoors championship between John McEnroe and Vitas Gerulaitis two years ago.
