Private bill on plumbing
PA Wellington A private member’s bill to outlaw do-it-yourself plumbers will be introduced into Parliament by the Napier Labour member of Parliament, Mr G. B. Braybrooke. Mr Braybrook’s move was backed by the Society of Master Plumbers and Gas Fitters at its conference in Napier. Mr Braybrooke told the conference that do-it-yourself plumbing was highly dangerous and could result in disastrous outbreaks of disease, which was often experienced overseas because of poor plumbing. Plumbers had more control over the health of the nation than the medical profession.
