N. Korean rebuff
North Korea has rejected a proposal made by the South Korean President (Mr Chun Doo Hwan) for reunification of the divided peninsula under a common constitution, . according to the North Korean Central News Agency. It quoted Vice-Presi-dent Kim II as saying: “If the so-called ‘unification proposal’ brought forward by the South Korean rulers recently stems from a sincere desire for unification, we would not have turned away from it, but attached due importance to it. But, to our regret, it cannot be considered a ‘proposal’ worthy of any positive significance.” — Tokyo. ■
