Auck. softballers ahead
PA Blenheim Auckland is winding up to make it seven in a row at the New Zealand under-18 girls softball tournament in Blenheim. The team has won the tournament six years running and have so fan won six of its seven section games Auckland's sixth win came with superior batting against Otago when it scored 1.3 safe hits to make 24 runs. Fielding errors bv the southern side helped Auckland to notch up its runs. The final score was 24-1 with Pauline Tuavera scoring .800. Mid-Canterbury gave away 21 walks when it came up against Whangarei. Whangarei scored 30 runs from 13 hits with Shiree
Rudolph scoring 750. MidCanterbury managed to score 11 runs from eight hits. Top scoring batter so far in the tournament. Ann-Marie Byen of Hutt Valley, scored a perfect average against South Otago. The North Island team defeated South Otago by 7-2. Other results were: Wellington 10. Nelson 0: Wellington 15. Manawatu 1. Otago 18. MidCanterburv 11: Auckland 16. Whangarei (). South Otago 10. Marlborough 0: Southland 14. Waikato 2: Horowhenua 10. Canterbury 9: Southland 26. Marlborough 21; Horowhenua 14. Waikato 3; Hutt Valley 14. Canterbury 4; North Shore 6. Manawatu 0.
