Player collapses, dies
PA Wellington Dick Armstrong, the handicapper for many years at the Wellington Golf” Club collapsed and died soon after teeing off yesterday in the pro-am to the New Zealand Open on his home. course. Mr Armstrong, believed to be aged 76 or 77, had hit his ball at the first, and was crossing the bridge on the
way to. playing his second when he fell. A career soldier, Mr Armstrong retired from the New Zealand Army with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. He later, worked for the Ombudsman. He was in a four headed by the leader of the Australasian order of merit, Bill Dunk, of New South Wales.
