Shooting competition
Warrant Officer M. J. Gallagher. of Wellington, is the winner of this year’s Royal New Zealand Air Fo’rce rifle shooting competitions which have been held at the West Melton military range this week. Competition was very close this year, the winner not being decided until the last match yesterday morning. Only one point separated Warrant Officer Gallagher from the second place-getter, Corporal D.
M. Craill of Woodbourne. Third was Flight Lieutenant R. Smith, from Wigram. The Chief of Air Staff. Air Vice Marshal D. E. Jamieson, presented Warrant Officer Gallagher with the prestigious Queen's Medal after the competition. Warrant Officer Gallagher has competed for the medal 12 times, and has been runner-up twice. Twenty-one riflemen from throughout the country took part in the competition.
