Clothing sale to U.S.
Canterbury Apparel, Ltd. a subsidiary of the Lane Walker Rudkin Industries Group, has had an export order for clothing worth $673,000 from Broadway Department Stores, of Southern California. The order is the high point of five years of promotional activity in the North American market, says the export director of Canterbury Apparel, Mr Warren Dalzell. The Canterbury-brand garments’on order are leisurewear developed from the Canterbury football jerseys, and they will arrive in the United States from January to June next year for the 1982 spring season. Mr Dalzell said that the export order would result in increased production at the Lane Walker Rudkin Group’s regional factories at Nelson, Temuka, Westport, and Rangiora. “Although the greatest volume of sales has been achieved in California, sales of Canterbury garments are
now made right across the United States, as far east as Boston and New York," he said. The. Broadway export order could be the biggest single order for New Zea-land-made apparel by one overseas customer, he said.
