Graduation at Wigram

Ten young Royal New Zealand Air Force pilots and navigators will be commissioned at a ceremonial parade at Wigram tomorrow. The parade will be reviewed by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice-Marshal D. E. Jamieson. Guests of honour for the occasion will include 20 veterans of the 1914-18 Airmen’s Association, who are attending a reunion at Wigram hosted by the R.N.Z.A.F. The seven graduating pilots flew eight months on Airtrainers at Wigram before moving to Ohakea, where they have completed four months advanced flying in Strikemasters to qualify for their wings. The student navigators course lasts a year and includes ground subjects as well as 200 hours flying on navigation exercises. Pilots among the graduating officer cadets include — Officer Cadets D. J. Brown, M. A. Owens, D. I. Mclsaac, all of Christchurch, and G. J. Snow, of Nelson.
