Four-way kart battle
Paul Larsen won the 100 cu cm Yamaha class after a fourway battle at the Christchurch Kart Club's second round $l5OO series meeting at the Carrs Road Raceway on Sunday. Larsen edged out Murray Davies. Darryl Horwell and Doug Drake before leaving the track in spectacular style during the fifth and final heat. The winner's engine seized, forcing him off the track and into the fence at more than 100 knc/h. The Christchurch drivers. Chris Worsley and Brent McConnell. loosened the Nelson grip on the junior class by finishing second and third respectively behind Darvl Wehner (Nelson). In doing so they beat the minor placegetters ' from the first round. Nelson's Stephen Hogg and Geoffrey Adcock. Shane Drake finished second to Bryce Coulbeck in what was his last meeting in the Miget class. Results (after five heats).— Migets: Bryce Coulbeck 1, Shane Drake’ 2. Christopher Emms 3.
