Fireworks display
Sir,—l feel that K. G. Lowe’s letter (November 28) re fireworks display read more like a piece from a fictional novel rather than a factual account. I have attended nearly all the displays at Woodford Glen and I have never been subjected to such a horrific experience as this person appears to have had. The remark about the display being “amateurish” and “haphazard” makes my blood boil. Perhaps if K. G. Lowe realised the danger that the men who do these displays put themselves into to give the public entertainment and in doing so help eliminate many of the backyard accidents that occur during the Guy Fawke’s period the correspondent might not be so critical. — Yours, etc., v D. M. HURRELL. x November 30, 1981.
