Small airline seeks 50 p.c. discounts
PA Wellington A small airline which flies across Cook Strait has applied for the right to offer a wide range of discount fares. Air Albatross, run by a Wellington pilot, Mr Murray Turley, using a nine-passen-ger Cessna 402. was granted rights in September to fly from Wellington to Blenheim. and Wellington to Nelson.
The Air Licensing Authority also granted Mr Turley the right to apply discounts of up to 50 per cent for standby passengers.
Now he seeks permission to apply discounts of up to 50 per cent for people or groups who travel at specified times or on specified flights. Two other small airlines flying from Wellington have applied for fare rises. Eagle Air and James Air have applied to the authority for 10 per cent and 7.5 increases respectively. Eagle flies to Wellington
from” Palmerston North while James is a competitor with Mr Turley on the Wellington, Blenheim and Nelson runs.
