200th medal for junior marcher
Julie Reed, the leader of the McVicar Guards junior marching team won her 200th medal at the Christchurch Association s championship on Sunday. However, her effort was not sufficient to give her team a win. Victory went to Newmans Acme Pioneers bv 49 points. Newmans Acme Pioneers also won the senior section narrowly from McAlpine Stars but it had a clear-cut 281-point margin over Sockburn Motors Lasers in the midget section. Results:— Senior, display, leader, march past, Newmans Acme Pioneers; second senior, display, leader. McAlpine Stars. Junior A grade, display, Newmans Acme Pioneers; leader. McVicar Guards; march past. Sockburn Motors Guards; second junior A. McVicar Guards; second display, Blue Star Taxis; second leader, Newmans Acme Pioneers. Junior B grade. Redwood Rangers; display, leader. Norm Bedford Motors.
Midget A grade, display, leader, march past, Newmans Acme Pioneers; second midget A. display, leader. Sockburn Motors Lasers. Midget B grade, display. McVicar Cadets; leader. Skellerup Militaires Crackerjacks. Midget C grade, leader. Woodford Glen Mascots; display, Merritt Home Cadets.
