Dramatic scene at finish
By G. K. YULE Unprecedented scenes of enthusiasm swepl Addington Raceway on Saturday when Lord Module won the Allan Matson Free-for-all at the end of a dramatic contest. When it became obvious that Lord Module was travelling like a winner with 100 m to run. the crowd began to clap and cheer and those in the grandstands rose to applaud as he powered to the line with an advantage of more than two lengths over the Victorian visitor, Garnmalite, with Armalight, Hands Down, and Bonnie’s Chance in line . next. As Jack Smplenski headed Lord' Module back towards the birdcage? the cheering and applause were renewed, many in the crowd surgingto the fence to obtain a close view. The rousing reception almost drowned out the course commentator, Mr Reon Murtha, when he announced that the national record for 2600 m had been broken by more than a second. To page 25
