Export award
PA Auckland Carter Holt has been presented with an export award after boosting its exports by more than $7O million in the last nine years. The company, which had exports totalling $72 million in 1981, expects to exceed $lOO million a year by the end of 1982. The Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Highet) presented the award in the absence of the Minister of Overseas Trade (Mr Taiboys) and the chairman of .the Trade Promotion Council. The main thrust of export expansion has been through joint-venture relationships of Carter Oji Kokusaku Pan Pacific, Ltd, producing pulp and timber, and Sealord Products, Ltd, as fish processors. Both companies are run as equity-based joint ventures with Japanese partners. The chairman of Carter Holt Holdings (Mr K. C. A. Carter), who accepted the award on behalf of the
group, called on the Government to assist it? export drive and long-term planning.
