Traffic heavy, but ‘smooth’

Traffic was heavy in Addington last evening'after the Canterbury A. and P. Show and the races.

Big crowds attended the show grounds and the raceway but the traffic had flowed “particularly smoothly,” said a Ministry of Transport spokesman. Seven non-injury road accidents were reported.

About 50 traffic officers were on duty to control the Show Day traffic. The last pointsman finished about 7 p.m., only 50 minutes after the last race at Addington. Many show-goers did not find it easy to park near the show grounds. Some faced long walks as most of the good parks went early in the morning.
