Trials on monkeys

Sir,—Why should these delightful, fun-loving monkeys be subjected to cruelty and agonising suffering at the hands of their tormentors in the name of “so-called” science? We were all created by a loving God to share this earth together — our friends the animals to live in peace each to its own environment not to be abused and tormented by man who is the cruellest, greediest, creature on earth. If the situation was reversed, animals would never treat man so cruelly, they are the most devoted, loyal, and wonderful friends. This year is the 800th anniversary of the birth of St Francis of Assisi so let us invoke him to help abolish for ever these senseless, cruel, experiments—Yours, etc., . Mrs PAULINE BODDINGTON. November 9, 1981.
