Women candidates

Sir,—The letter from J. P. M. Austin is timely and very much to the point. The menace of over-population has made the lowering of the birth-rate a necessity and women thus have more opportunities to make an impression outside as well as inside the home. Feminism, which aims to spread “the traditional feminine values of compassion and idealism” through the world will do far more for public harmony and world peace than the aggressiveness of many women’s libbers. Militant feminism, which sometimes seems intent on stirring up a war between the sexes, will only worsen a situation already made grim by masculine aggression.— Yours, etc., V. F. WILKINSON. November 6, 1981.
