New secretary
PA Wellington The retirement of Mr K. M. Poulton as secretary of the New Zealand Press Council, and the appointment of Mr H. L. Verry in his place, have been announced by the chairman of the council, Sir Thaddeus McCarthy. Mr Poulton has been secretary of the council since its establishment in September, 1972, after his retire-
ment as editor of the “Evening Post,” Wellington. Mr Verry retired in April this year as general manager of the New Zealand Press Association. Sir Thaddeus said that Mr Poulton’s retirement completed more than 57 years of active association with newspapers. “His service to the Press Council has been invaluable,” said Sir Thaddeus.
