Change for Galaxy
The D.B. Galaxy Stakes, formerly run on the second day of the Easter meeting at Riccarton. will be the feature race at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Christmas meeting on December 12. The sponsorship of the D.B. Handicap, previously staged at the Christmas meeting, has been transferred to the South Island Three-year-old Championship Stakes,’ which is run at the Easter meeting. The Coruba Stakes, a 1600 m weight-for-age event at the Christmas meeting, has been discontinued, and the sponsorship by allied Liquor Merchants will be attached to the 1982 Great Easter Handicap with a substantial increase in the stake.
