Bridges opened
PA Wellington ■Six new bridges in the Hepiot area, built because of flood damage in the last three “ years, have been opened by the Minister of Works and Development (Mr W. L. Young). “The floods which the Tuapeka county and Clutha county experienced in 1978, 1979 and January, 1980, will probably still be a vivid memory,” he said at the qpening ceremony. Total restoration of the flood damage to roads in the district cost $2 million, with, the bridges’ share $1.6 million.
