Rhododendron show popular
New Zealand’s first official rhododendron show , held at the Horticultural Hall, Christchurch, was so successful it will probably be repeated next year. An organiser of the weekend’s show, Mr R. J. Coker, of the Canterbury Horticultural Society, said more than 600 rhododendrons and azaleas had been entered.
Champion hybrid rhododendron was a Lalique, grown by A. G. Holmes and Mrs Holmes, of Rakaia. The champion species rhododendron was an Augustiniae, grown by Mrs T. Tapley, of Pigeon Bay.
