Rixen dispute
Sir,—Mr Rowling’s repudia- ’ tion of Mr Douglas’s comments ■- bn possible breaches of the law by trade unionists at the Levin Rixen. factory-should not have bgen qualified by the suggestion that a change of government might bring a change in the Jaw.' Labour should say exactly where it stands on the Rixen issue, where strikers who refused the company’s redundancy offer are now occupying its factory and refusing to allow it to dispose of its own machinery. If this is to become lawful under a Labour government the country could be reduced to chaos' by similar actions in other industries. Labour should not be allowed to sit on the fence on this issue.—Yours, etc., J. F. GARVEY. October 19, 1981.
