Fencing in
Sir,—The water is always bluer on the other side of the fence. R. I. McPherson (October 19) seems to assume that only the hallowed hills of Cashmere are harbouring hazardous pools. What proof has he/she? Have any children been drowned in private pools on the hills, or any other area under the Heathcote Council’s administration?. I am glad councillors offered an idea (“half-baked” enough never to be adopted) as an alternative to the restrictive idea of fencing pools.—Yours, etc.,
D. L. BENNETT. October 20, 1981.
